Scouting

Homenetmen of Greater Boston has had an increasingly productive scout troop in the last few years. With over 75 scouts in our troop (ages 4 and up) and more than 15 leaders, weekly meetings are held during which the scouts are taught Armenian history, culture, and scouting knowledge. We prepare our scouts one week at a time to become respectful and knowledgeable humans.

Throughout the year, the scouts have events planned outside of their weekly activities. Using knowledge obtained from weekly scouting, the scouts go to hiking, seminars, camping trips, and more. They also attend regional events through which they build friendships that last a lifetime. The leaders provide good examples for the younger scouts to follow, and serve as role models in the spirit of the Homenetmen motto - "Partsratsir, Partsratsoor," or "Elevate yourself and others with you."

The scouts meet every Saturday from 1pm – 3pm at the Armenian Cultural and Educational Center in Watertown, MA, where each week the leaders teach them something new, from general Homenetmen knowledge, to scouting history, to songs, knots and activities to bring them closer as a group. Our scouts have a very promising future ahead of them, and are all working to learn scouting knowledge as they prepare to attend Regional Camping Trips, as well as the Worldwide Homenetmen Scouting Jamboree which is held in Armenia every 4 years.

If you would like to contact us for more information about our scouting activities you can email the Khorourt at csc.boston@homenetmen.org, or contact our chapter Khmpabed, Y. Alex Ourfalian, at alex.ourfalian@homenetmen.org.
